We are all affected by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. It’s been an unsettling, challenging, and chaotic time to navigate, but we are so grateful to be able to continue to focus on fostering conservation service even in the midst of this unprecedented situation.

On March 20, 2020 Conservation Legacy’s Incident Response Team made the difficult decision to suspend crew-based programming. The health and safety of our members, staff and communities was and is foremost in our decision making, and it became clear that suspending these operations was the safest and most responsible course of action.

Our Stewards Individual Placements positions throughout the country have been impacted by this virus as well. We are continuing to support our members who are able to work remotely or with minimal interaction. In this video, you’ll meet four such members: Anna, Will, Niki, and Hannah. They’ll explain a bit more about what each of their positions looked like before COVID-19 and how they are fluctuating now. Conservation Legacy is excited to share these new expressions of service in support of our communities and ecosystems during this challenging time. We are so inspired by the work our members do every day!

Whew! There are a lot of acronyms and program names thrown around in this video. Let’s break it down real quick! The folks featured in this video are all members of our Stewards Individual Placement Program (or SIPP, more info here) and within Stewards, they represent our:

AmeriCorps VISTA program (Volunteers in Service to America)
CVA program (Community Volunteer Ambassadors)
and GIP program (Geoscientists in the Parks)

*** PLEASE NOTE ***

the COVID-19 pandemic is still developing. The policies and closures of National Parks and other public lands mentioned in this video are in fluctuation. Since these interviews were recorded, some policies, protocols, and access to these areas may have changed.
